Civic Youth Theatre

The Civic Youth Theatre will present a fresh and comical adaptation of a Shakespearean classic: The Seussification of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Written by Peter Bloedel, with all the beloved characters of the classic included, this Seussified version will enchant you as you frolic through a forest filled with fairies, whoosh bush tush beasts, and bumballoon swords! Wacky and wild, release your inner child! 

Add On - Academy of Theatre Arts Seussification Class: On Saturday, April 26, keep the theatrical fun going with an exciting hour-long class following the show! Young performers will step just down the sidewalk to our rehearsal room wing, where they’ll work with our talented teaching artists to explore the imaginative world of Dr. Seuss. Building on the whimsical Seussification theme, students will engage in interactive theatre games designed to warm up their voices and sharpen their diction. Using If I Ran the Circus as inspiration, they’ll unleash their creativity through improvisation, storytelling, and a bit of dance.

Families will receive a take-home resource sheet filled with fun activities and community connections to continue the theatrical journey beyond the classroom.

Designed for ages 3-10. Parents are welcome to participate or relax in our lower lobby with access to guest Wi-Fi.

Theme Performance - Seuss Meets Shakespeare: Calling all Dr. Seuss and Shakespeare lovers to come to Seussification of A Midsummer Night Dream where everyone will receive a treat on Saturday, April 26, 2025. You are welcome to come dressed in your favorite Seuss or Shakespeare costume. Please no masks that cover your face, toy weapons and any large head pieces will need to be removed during the performance.

The Wedding Singer by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy 

Robbie is a goofy New Jersey singer who failed as a rock star, then in love.  He now fronts the most in-demand wedding band until his own wedding plans go awry and he is left standing at the altar.  Join us as we root for Robbie to find love and to once again provide awesome 1980s music to weddings across New Jersey. 

Theme Nights

It's Your Wedding Day: Time to dust off those 1980’s wedding dresses, bridesmaids and formal wear on Saturday, May 3, 2025, and receive a special treat at intermission. 

May the 4th Day: May the 4th be with you at Sunday, May 4, 2025, performance of The Wedding Singer where we encourage you to dress up in your best attire from a galaxy far, far, away. Please no masks that cover your face, toy weapons and any large head pieces will need to be removed during the performance.

Saturday Night in The City: : It’s Saturday Night in the City and we welcome you to come in your best 1980’s club attire where you will receive a treat at intermission on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

A 1980’s Prom Night: Join us for the time of your life as we welcome you to a 1980’s prom night extravaganza following the Saturday, May 17, 2025, performance. The DJ will be playing nothing but the best hits from the 1980’s and our bar will be open for purchases.
