Forever Plaid opens next Friday April 5, 2024 in the Carver Studio.  Join Sparky, Frankie, Smudge and Jinx as they take you back to the sounds of the 60's in this lovely musical comedy.  This show features such wonderful songs as "Moments to Remember", "Chain Gang", "Three Coins in the Fountain", and "Catch A Falling Star."  

 

The shows cast consists of  Kevin Taylor as Jinx, Matthew Schuster as Frankie, Isaiah Lee as Smudge, and Cody Watson as Sparky.  Vincent Giannecchini understudies for Smudge.  Katie Martinek is choreographer, Hal Hobson-Morse is music director, Mike Artis is director, David Mahon is assistant director, and Lisa Brannan and Kris Tyrrell make up the stage management team.

 

Forever Plaid is produced as one of our Centennial Productions which highlights a show that has made a significant contribution to the history of the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre,  This show was first produced in 1998 and went on to competition and won the state and regional competions and competed at nationals in Memphis, Tennessee. 

 

Three shows have been added to this run but are selling out quickly.  Tickets for Forever Plaid are going fast, with many of the show already sold out, so get your tickets today by calling the Civic's box office at 269-343-1313 or clicking on the button below. Forever Plaid plays April 5-April 21st.

 

The Director of Volunteers is presently updating a new Ludus account for volunteers! Ludus is an online platform for tickets and volunteering. The volunteer section is very new and Mike is entering all of your information in Ludus so that you can easily sign up for volunteer positions in the future.  You may receive an email in the next few weeks, this indicates your information has successfully been entered into the volunteer section of Ludus. If you have any questions about what is happening or need to know more, please email Mike Artis, Director of Volunteers, at martis@kazoocivic.com.

The Kalamazoo Civic's 96th Season was announced last week on Tuesday, March 19th.  It was wonderful to see all of people who attended.  The Season's shows are below.  But first we want to Thank the volunteers who were on the playreading committee.  Your generous time helped to make the 96th Season possible.  Thank you.

 

The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre's 96th Season:

  • The Opener - Stay Tuned...
  • Let it Be Music - A musical tribute to the Beatles is our Senior Reader's Theatre production which will be performed in Parish theatre.
  • Disney Pixar's Finding Nemo Jr. - Our Civic Youth Theatre will present this wonderful movie now Broadway musical classic on the Civic Auditorium Stage.
  • Radium Girls - Examines the fight of female factory workers demanding safer working conditions in a watch factory.  This powerful play will be presented in the Parish Studio.
  • Cinderella - This classic fable retelling is our Mainstage holiday show.  What a wonderful way to start the holiday.
  • Well - A story of mothers and daughters dealing with chronic illness will be presented in the Carver Studio
  • Press Start - This year's Penguin Project examines the Heroes, their Sidekicks and Vilnians from the world of Video games and will be presented in Civic Auditorium.
  • California Suite - This Neil Simon Classic is being presented in the Parish Theatre.
  • Parade - This dramatization of the Leo Frank/Mary Fagan  story will be presented in the Civic Auditorium.
  • Dancing at Lughnasa - Our Civic Centennial Presentation is the story a family of five sisters in County Donegal, Ireland.  Our Senior Reader's Theatre will perform this amazing story in the Carver Studio.
  • The Seussification of a Midsummer Night's Dream -  Shakespeare gets a make over by Dr. Seuss in this Civic Youth Theatre production presented in the Parish Theatre.
  • The Wedding Singer - This story of new love is our closing musical presented in the Civic Auditorium.

Mark your calendars!!! Saturday, June 1st at 2:00pm will be this year's Kalamazoo Civic Theatre volunteer celebration.  All volunteers are welcome to attend.  Together, we will look back on the Civic's 95th season and forward to the 96th.  Join us and help the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre celebrate you, our fabulous volunteers.
